Full Job Description

This position will require travel throughout the Western Region. This position can be housed either at Bland Correctional Center or Marion Correctional Center.

Manage and direct the quality assurance program for the food and beverage processing centers, and vegetable farms within the agribusiness operations. To assure quality control of food products manufactured within the department. The quality assurance specialist is responsible for the administration of existing HACCP programs as well as the design & implementation of new HACCP plans. To assure produce operations are in compliance with VDACS regulations.

This is a full-time restricted position. Restricted positions are classified positions with at least 10% of its funding from non-continuous or non-recurring funding sources, such as grants, donations, contracts, capital outlay projects or higher education auxiliary enterprise revenues.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Required technical skills are the ability to design, implement, manage & monitor HACCP programs. Working knowledge of USDA,FDA,OSHA, WPS &VDACS regulations, ability to design, write, & implement procedural manuals & assist in customer relation programs for DOC manufacturing plants. Experience in quality assurance of food manufacturing. Experience in food safety and the Food Safety Modernization Act. Working knowledge & familiarity with data based programs such as Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural/life science, dairy science, food service, a related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training.

Essential Job Duties:
Position Summary: This position is responsible for monitoring controls which impact the administration of Title IV Federal Student Financial Assistance programs and ensuring compliance. Controls include, but are not limited to: Reviewing individual student financial aid records; records processed through the Common Origination and Disbursement system; Return to Title IV Funds calculations; enrollment status reporting to the Clearing House; resolution of ISIR C Codes; award calculations; timeliness of resolving credit balances on the student ledger; Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan reconciliations between the Common Origination and Disbursement system and Great Plains; the student exit interview process; student financial aid eligibility. This position is responsible for interpreting regulations and writing compliance memos, providing subject matter expertise on the issues related to Title IV regulation and University processes, training team members and maintaining training materials. This position is also responsible for assistance with documentation and implementation of new processes. The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for assisting with reconciliations and managing the various audits for which the student and financial services team participates. Essential Functions: Monitors internal controls as it pertains to the administration of Title IV Federal Student Assistance. Proper documentation for all testing encounters; this includes: consent for testing, releases of information, screening for 'risk factors,' HIV pre- and post-test counseling.
Pre-screen community members for research projects that are connected to a testing encounter as well as pre-screen for supportive service needs that community members may have. For example, housing, employment and mental health, and referring to Supportive Services when community members are in crisis.
